Launch Services

Two private launch services are available to attend to vessels off port limits. These services are available 24/7, 365 days a year. The point of rendezvous is normally 4nm due east of the breakwater which is just outside the eastern port limits.

Vessels do not pay either port dues or light dues or any other marine charges if the service is off limits or at the outer anchorage. Due to heavy swells which sometimes prevail, occasions could arise when this operation is not possible. A registered South African Shipping Agency (eg. Trade Ocean!) will need to be appointed to ensure compliance with immigration, customs and port health formalities prior to the launch's departure.

Rendezvous position:
To avoid port and light dues the rendezvous position is 4nm due E of the port breakwater.

Communications:
Contact between the launch and the OPL vessel is initialised on VHF Ch 16. Bunker supply is not permitted outside of the harbour. Crew changes, water, spares, chaddelling supplies etc. can all be done by launch.

Fleet:
The fleet of vessels are fitted with VHF. A total of 40 passengers and crew can be carried by a single craft and max payload is 70t.

Helicopter Services

One helicopter available which carries ten passengers, and two jet rangers available for charter/daylight service only. Vessels can be serviced by flying earlier to rendezvous and return during daylight hours.
